NWDCN 2020
the third international workshop on networking women in distributed computing and networks
(In conjunction with ICDCN 2020) 4th January, 2020 || Kolkata, India

INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON NETWORKING WOMEN IN DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING AND NETWORKS (NWDCN)

With the gargantuan need for processing data at a low latency and negligible error but with a high rate, women engineers are enthusiastically working in the areas of distributed computing, wired and wireless networks and mobile computing. Over the past decade, wireless communication and mobile computing have become the most influential technologies in the evolution of new form of distributed computing. The eagerness to adopt 5G technology has put the limelight on distributed computing and networking. Additionally, advances in cloud computing has changed the world of computing by eliminating the requirement of owning large-scale servers by the organizations and shifting the computing tasks towards the data centers. The combination of new forms of networks and distributed computing have given rise of emerging areas like Internet of Things, Big Data management and analytics, Blockchain, 5G etc. Originated from RFID and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), the paradigm of IoT has been transforming every aspect of human life including healthcare, energy, transportation, manufacturing and entertainment. This workshop will consider the research works which have escalated this change in the computing world. The workshop will also highlight the applications which have been built on top of the modern distributed computing systems with particular focus on healthcare, transportation, smart city and green computing. The workshop will focus on networking the women researchers working in the emerging fields of (but not limited to):

  • Architecture and Networking of Distributed Computing
  • Mobile and Cloud Computing
  • Network Security, Privacy and Reliability
  • Scheduling and Resource Management
  • Internet of Things
  • Large Scale Complex Networks
  • Big data storage and I/O
  • Blockchain
  • Applications and services in healthcare, transportation, smart city and entertainment
  • Green computing
  • 5G

CALL FOR PAPERS

Over the past decade, advances in wireless communication and mobile computing have led to the evolution of advanced form of distributed computing. Additionally, progress in cloud computing has changed the world of computing by eliminating the requirement of owning large-scale servers by the organizations and shifting the computing tasks towards the data centers. The combination of new forms of large scale complex networks and distributed computing have given rise of emerging areas like Internet of Things (IoT), Social Networks, Big Data management and analysis, green computing, 5G etc. Originated from RFID and wireless sensor networks (WSNs), the paradigm of IoT has been transforming every aspect of human life including healthcare, energy, transportation, manufacturing and entertainment. This workshop will consider the research works which have accelerated this change in the computing world. The workshop will also highlight the applications which have been built on top of the complex networks based on distributed computing systems with particular focus on healthcare, transportation, smart city, green computing and 5G. The workshop will focus on women participation in the research targeting the following (but not limited to) emerging fields:

  • Architecture and Networking of Distributed Computing
  • Mobile and Cloud Computing
  • Network Security, Privacy and Reliability
  • Scheduling and Resource Management
  • Internet of Things
  • Large Scale Complex Networks
  • Big data storage and I/O
  • Blockchain
  • Applications and services in healthcare, transportation, smart city and entertainment
  • Green computing
  • 5G
